The Gardena Police Department is investigating a two-vehicle traffic collision that that left one person dead on Monday, October 2.
According to a statement released by Gardena PD, their officers and the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to a traffic collision in the intersection of Berendo Avenue and Redondo Beach Boulevard at approximately 5:40 p.m.
“Upon arrival, officers located a traffic collision involving a red Mitsubishi and a blue Ford Mustang stopped in the intersection,” the statement reads. “All parties were transported to the hospital for further medical treatment. One passenger from the Mitsubishi was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The name of the deceased is being withheld pending further investigation and notification of next to kin.”
Sergeant Daniel Guzzo wrote that a preliminary investigation revealed that the main cause of this crash was due to an “unsafe turning movement.”
Investigations will continue with the Gardena Police Department Traffic Bureau and the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.
