Thanksgiving would not be Thanksgiving for many families without some divine intervention. And as it has done for more than a decade, the Golden State Water Company has put the “giving” in Thanksgiving.
GSWC last week donated approximately 1,750 turkeys to various organizations in its Southwest Customer Service Area, which includes Gardena and seven other cities. The turkeys will assist local families in need this Thanksgiving holiday as part of the company’s annual Operation Gobble program.
Turkeys were delivered Wednesday in Gardena to the City’s Human Services Department. Families in need will be the recipients of the birds for Thanksgiving, which this year is Nov. 22.
Companywide, Golden State delivered more than 7,000 turkeys for needy families throughout its service territory, which covers portions of all of 75 communities in 10 counties within California.
“Golden State Water Company cares about the communities it serves, and is proud to once again provide holiday joy for deserving families through our annual Thanksgiving turkey donation,” District Manager Frederick Adjarian said. “Through this program, we provide a happier holiday for those who need it most. Operation Gobble also raises awareness of the issue of hunger in California.”
Operation Gobble is a non-denominational and non-partisan effort to distribute turkeys. Golden State works in partnership with local, State and Federal elected officials who offer expertise in directing the donations to community food banks, churches and other non-profit organizations.
Golden State Water Company has been distributing turkeys to disadvantaged families throughout its customer service areas since 1990.
