Tuesday, Jan. 21: Chicken taco (2), corn tortilla, shredded lettuce and tomatoes, pinto beans, cantaloupe, and vegetable barley soup.

Wednesday, Jan. 22: Pork cutlet with gravy, whole grain roll, sliced carrots, homemade mashed potatoes, Caesar salad with croutons, oatmeal cookie, and orange juice.

Thursday, Jan. 23: Teriyaki chicken with pineapple and pepper, brown rice, Asian stir fry vegetables, Asian salad with wonton, canned pears, and egg drop soup.

Friday, Jan. 24: Open-faced turkey sandwich, peas and carrots, homemade mashed potatoes, and cantaloupe.

Activities/SCAMP menu at the Community Center – Week of Jan. 20

Monday: Lunch (12:30 p.m.); 2nd and 4th Mondays, a free movie and refreshments beginning at 1 p.m.

Tuesday: Special transit I.D. photos taken on the second Tuesday of the month (10 a.m.-noon), piano with Bob Herb (11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.), lunch (12:20), and bingo (1-2 p.m.).

Wednesday: Thrift sale (8 a.m.-noon), blood pressure/hearing check on the third Wednesday of the month (9:30-11:30 a.m.), lunch (12:30) and Top Notch Club meets at the Nakaoka Center on the first Wednesday of the month (1:15-2 p.m.).

Thursday: Legal service by appointment only on 3rd Thursday of the month, Friendship Club meets at the Nakaoka Center (10:30 a.m.-2 p.m.), lunch with Elsie Montilla at the piano (12:30 p.m.) and Candlelight Dinner on the fourth Thursday of the month (5-7 p.m.).

Friday: Creative Design Class with Cardinali (8-11 a.m.), Golden Sounds choral class (11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.), lunch (12:20 p.m.) and bingo (1 to 2 p.m.).

GARDENA ON THE GO

Kicking off the new year is a Coastal Picnic and Tour at the South Coast Botanic Gardens planned for Thursday, Feb. 13. Departure time is 10 a.m. and arrival at the Botanic Gardena is 10:45 a.m. Return to Gardena by 6:15 p.m. There will be a picnic at noon, and tram tours at noon and 1 p.m. Return to Gardena at 6:15 p.m.

Cost is $36, fee and form confirm reservation. Fee includes coach bus transportation, driver’s tip, picnic lunch, and gardens entrance and tour. Skirball Museum tour is set for April 8. See Lauren Mataalii for information or call 310-217-9552.

CANDLELIGHT DINNER

The SCAMP January Candlelight Dinner is planned for 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23 at the Nakaoka Community Center. Entertainment will be by the After Five Quartet. On the menu will be honey sherry chicken with sauce, rice pilaf, dinner roll, green salad with red onions and French dressing, petite peas, orange juice, peach cobbler and milk. SCAMP member donation is $5 and for non-members, $7. This Project is funded in part by the AAA Older Americans Act of 1965.

2ND TIME AROUND CLUB

The 2nd Time Around Seniors Club of Rowley Park invites seniors to their 1 p.m. Monday meetings at Rowley Park, 13220 S. Van Ness Ave., Gardena. The group engages in games, birthday celebrations and regularly invites guest speakers from various organizations. SCAMP MONDAY MOVIES

SCAMP free movies are shown on the second and fourth Mondays of the month. The movie begins after the SCAMP lunch and is subject to change depending on availability.

ST. ANTHONY SENIOR CLUB

The St. Anthony Senior Club meets from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays inthe old church across the street from St. Anthony of Padua Elementary School at1050 W.163rd St. Membership is open to Seniors 50 years of age or older.A meeting will be followed by games, including Bingo and Mexican Train. MEAL ON WHEELS VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Volunteers are needed for the Meals on Wheels program, to deliver hot meals to homebound seniors. Volunteers need to commit two hours one day a week, or only one day a month. A team of two, driver and helper, will deliver meals to seniors who are unable to make lunch for themselves. Or a volunteer can bring a partner to team with. Senior Bureau officials said that one person in a team will always know the route. Call Lauren at 310-217-9552 for more information.

STAY FIT CLASSES

“Stay fit, fun and trim” with classes at Rush Gym. Call 310-217-9537. Zumba is planned for Tuesday and Thursday, 8:30 p.m. Seniors pay $5 to sign up and then can “pay as they go.” Exercise class Monday to Friday, 8 to 10 a.m.; Tai chi classes Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, starting at 10 a.m.

FARMERS MARKET

Fruits and fresh produce sold Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot of the Nakaoka Community Center.

ROSEMONT CLUB SENIORS

The Rosemont Club seniors get together for Bingo, exercise and other activities, while also sharing a potluck meal Fridays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 840 W. 149th St., Gardena. Call 310-502-5599.

DIABETIC SUPPORT GROUP

The group led by Angela Anderson, R.D., takes place the third Tuesday of the month from 10 a.m. to noon in Room F of the Nakaoka Community Center, 1670 W. 162nd St.

This is an “opportunity to share your diabetic needs and information with others,” Anderson said.

Lunch is also served at this location in the Auditorium Monday – Friday at 12:20 p.m. for a suggested donation of $2.75. Call 310-217-9552 for reservations.

CARE PROVIDERS SUPPORT

The Gardena Senior Day Care Center, 14517 Crenshaw Blvd., hosts regular Caregiver Support Group meetings on the third Thursday of the month from 1:30 to 3 p.m. All interested citizens are welcome to participate. Meetings are free. Call 310-217-9550.

SENIOR THRIFT SALE

Sale runs from 7:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesdays.

BE WELL EXERCISE CLASS

Along with the nutrition class, will meet from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday in the Cliff Holliday Room A at the Nakaoka Community Center. The class is led by a registered dietician and is free to seniors.
