On Oct. 2, Disney Studios opened up their magical vault to release one of Walt Disney’s most charming fairytale classics, “Cinderella” on Blu-ray and DVD.
Every little Princess in the family will love this timeless story about a young girl who has faith that her dreams will come true as she sings “A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes” while doing the many chores expected of her by her unloving stepmother and her two pampered stepsisters.
She is cheerful and kind and the animals, especially the many little mice that live in her home, adore her. They all try to do their best to keep her spirits up.
Well, almost all of the animals are on her side, except for the cat, Lucifer.
Even though the cat lives up to his name, his devilish antics are part of the humor that is sprinkled throughout.
Things look as if they are about to change for Cinderella when an invitation from the castle arrives asking all the eligible young ladies in the kingdom to attend a Royal Ball.
Unfortunately, before Cinderella can sew a dress for herself, her stepsisters constantly interrupt her preparations. They keep her so busy helping them get ready that she has no time to create an outfit to wear that evening, but the busy little mice and the birds all pitch in to create a gown for their “Cinderellie.” while she waits on her stepsisters hand and foot.
Their mother, Lady Tremaine, encourages their dreadful behavior and by the time Cinderella finishes helping them primp and preen she has no dress to wear. When she sadly goes to her humble room she discovers the gown her busy little friends have created.
As she hurries to join her stepmother and stepsisters in their carriage they rip her dress to shreds. Now all hope is gone.
Cinderella runs sobbing into the garden as her sister ‘uglies’ head for the palace. Then, out of the blue, her fairy godmother appears and faster than you can say “Bibbidy- Bobbidy- Boo!” she is sprinkled with fairy dust and magically dressed in a gown befitting a princess. With another wave of her wand Cinderella’s fairy godmother creates an elegant carriage from a pumpkin.
However, she is warned that she must leave the Ball before the stroke of midnight. If not, she will again be dressed in rags and her carriage, footmen and horses will be just a pumpkin and scampering little mice.
If you have read this fairytale you know the Prince falls in love with Cinderella. When she runs away as the clock starts to chime the midnight hour he races after her, but all he finds is her tiny glass slipper.
To say any more would spoil the surprise, but like all Disney fairy tales there is eventually a “happily ever after,” although not for the cat.
In the 2-Disc Combo pack there are many extras including an animated short called “Tangled Ever After” using the characters from Pixar’s delightful full length animated film “Tangled.”

According to Peter Travers, Rolling Stone, “Ferrell and Galifianakis will crack you up—guaranteed” in Warner Bros. “The Campaign,” which arrived on Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD and Digital Download Oct. 30, just days before the big national election.
While the upcoming election is no laughing matter, “The Campaign” is, so if you just want to laugh at politics, not have a nervous breakdown over the process, check out “The Campaign.”
In the film, directed by Jay Roach (“Meet the Parents”), long-term congressman Cam Brady (Will Ferrell) makes a major gaffe shortly before an upcoming election. As a result, a pair of ultra-wealthy CEO’s decide to put up a rival candidate against him in order to gain influence in Brady’s North Carolina district. They choose Marty Higgins (Zach Galifianakis) who actually does well. Due to cutthroat campaign practices the two are locked in a dead heat. (Sound familiar?)
There are plenty of DVD extras like deleted scenes and Ultra Violet to instantly stream and download the film to compatible devices. The Combo Pack sells for $35.99 and the single disc DVD is $28.98. From Warner Bros., rated R for some crude sexual content, language and brief nudity.
