Gardena man arrested for LB shooting

The Long Beach Police Department reported that a Gardena resident was arrested on the morning of Sunday, November 12 for firing shots into the air during a fight with another man. The suspect was identified as Derian Danzall Tasby, 34.

The incident took place in the area of Second Street and Nieto Avenue in Long Beach at 12:59 a.m., according to a statement from the LBPD.

“Upon arrival, officers located ballistic evidence, including bullet casings, indicating a shooting occurred,” reads the statement. “The preliminary investigation suggests a male adult suspect was in the area when engaged in a physical altercation with an unknown male adult subject, and subsequently discharged a firearm in the air.”:

Fortunately, nobody was injured. The suspect left the scene prior to officers’ arrival, but later returned.

“While officers were investigating the scene, the suspect returned and was subsequently arrested and transported to Long Beach City Jail for booking,” read the statement. “[Danzall] was booked on one count of assault with a deadly weapon, one count of negligent discharge of a firearm, one count of battery, one count of brandishing a firearm, and one count of carrying an undetectable firearm. Bail was set at $35,000. The investigation is ongoing.”
