Gardena Valley Chamber of Commerce is hosting “Operation Backpack Giveaway”

Gardena Valley Chamber of Commerce has announced that it’s excited to invite Gardena locals to take part in the 11th Annual Backpack & School Supply Giveaway, hosted by the Gardena Valley Chamber of Commerce and CEO/Councilwoman Wanda Love.

“After a pause due to COVID, this beloved ‘Operation Backpack Giveaway’ event is back,” the Chamber said in a statement. “Together with local businesses and community leaders, we will be providing free backpacks and essential school supplies to over 500 K–12 students in need.”

Event Highlights will include: Free school supplies and backpacks; Haircuts & braiding services; Kid Zone activities; Delicious food and music; Business showcase opportunities.

“This is a fantastic way to give back to local families while promoting your business and connecting with the community,” they said.

Community members can get involved in a number of ways. 

Become a Vendor. “There’s no booth fee! Instead, we ask each vendor to donate a minimum of 300 school supply items to distribute to students.”

Become a Sponsor. “Various sponsorship levels available. See the sponsorship packet [at gardenachamber.org] for more details.”

The Chamber said that it is aiming for at least 40 participating vendors, and “we’d be honored to have you join us in making this a success. If you have any questions or need additional information, feel free to reach out. We’d love to have you on board for this fun, impactful day of giving.”
