Gardena YWCA to celebrate 50 years of community service

YWCA Gardena Valley will celebrate 50 years of Community Service (1965 to 2015) with an Open House Celebration in their parking lot from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at 1341 West Gardena Blvd.

YWCA Gardena Valley will celebrate 50 years of Community Service (1965 to 2015) with an Open House Celebration in their parking lot from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at 1341 West Gardena Blvd. 

“It’ll be packed withfun, with balloons, hot dogs, nachos, cold drinks, games, vendors, crafts, demonstrations in CPR, and Chair Yoga, and a musical video,” YWCA officials said. “The Eat, Stitch and Bitch Club will be there to show its stuff. And you might even be able to collect one dollar each time you can say ‘YWCA Gardena Valley’ clearly in 10 seconds.”

The Hawaii Daughter’s Guild will invite Hawaiian musicians and dancers, Councilman Dan Medina will bring his humor and songs, and the students from Tammy Kemp’s On Your Toes Studio at Mas Fukai Park will tap their way into your hearts.

And maybe there will even be a visit from Kermit the Frog.Admission is free.

Nacho without cheese or chili is $3, and with the works $5; hot dogs without chili is $3, and with chili, $5; Games 50¢, Crafts $1, Raffle $5, and $1 for the 10-second challenge. Awesome raffle gifts will be available. Purchases for raffle tickets, food, games, crafts or the 10-second challenge must be made with tickets purchased from the Ticket Booth. No money exchanges will be allowed, except at the vendor booths.
