July 4 DUI arrests down from 2013, police say

The Independence Day Weekend DUI crackdown is reporting less DUI arrests this year from local routine traffic enforcement and special Avoid the 100 DUI deployments in Los Angeles County.

From 12:01 a.m.Thursday July 3tomidnight on Sunday,July 6, officers representing 100 county law enforcement agencies have arrested 590 individuals for driving under the influenceof alcohol or drugs. Last year, the task force arrested 685 drivers for driving impaired.

Law enforcement officials will be conducting their next major Avoid DUI campaignthroughout the county and region during the 18 Day Summer Campaign in August ending Labor Day weekend.

Police, Sheriff and the CHP encourage all motorists to watch for and report impaired drivers each and every trip around town or during summer vacations: Report Drunk Drivers –Call 9-1-1at anytime motorists encounter a dangerous driver.
