The Oxnard Police Department reported on Friday, January 19 that a Gardena resident had been the subject of a traffic stop, and was arrested for possessing a concealed handgun.
A car was stopped near the intersection of A Street and Fifth St, at approximately 9:24 p.m. on Friday, and the officers soon learned that the driver wasn’t in possession of a valid driver’s license.
“The officers began removing the occupants from the vehicle,” reads the Oxnard PD’s report.
One of those occupants was 29-year-old Gardena resident Devin Knapp, who admitted to being in possession of the handgun.
“Officers confiscated the handgun and Knapp was taken into custody for firearms violation,” the report states.
The Oxnard PD says that its Special Enforcement Unit is committed to reducing gang crimes and gun violence in the City of Oxnard through the strict enforcement of laws specifically targeting known, active gang members residing in the city.
