The election is just around the corner and who ever becomes president may not be as sexy as a movie or TV star but he will be a man of great power and influence.

And power and influence have their own unique appeal.  One key man in the race is the current President_Barack Obama.

The film “2016,” now available on DVD, takes a look at Obama, beginning with his relationship with his African father who died in a car accident when Obama was very young.

Even though he spent little time with the man, his father’s political ideals and views still resonate with his son to this day.  The film also examines his family life abroad, his life with his grandparents in Hawaii, as well as his academic pursuits, his professors and mentors.

Much of the background narrative is from Obama’s reading of his book “Dreams From My Father.”  The viewer also gets a chance to meet his half-brother George, who is interviewed by the film’s director, Dinesh D’Souza, when he was in Africa.

No matter how you plan to vote, the film offers some interesting insights into the man who is our 44th president.  The Lionsgate film is now available on DVD (as of Oct. 16)  from Amazon for $9.99.
