Attempted murder

7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8

1200 block of West 144th Street

• Police responded to a call of multiple gunshot blasts, as many as 15 shots  one witness reported, and a man being shot in the leg.

A burgundy-colored SUV was seen fleeing the area and it was believed that the shooting suspect was inside.

A white-colored sedan then pulled up to the shooting victim and “brutally” loaded him into the backseat. The car then sped away.

1200 block of West 144th Street

• Police responded to a call of multiple gunshot blasts, as many as 15 shots  one witness reported, and a man being shot in the leg.

A burgundy-colored SUV was seen fleeing the area and it was believed that the shooting suspect was inside.

A white-colored sedan then pulled up to the shooting victim and “brutally” loaded him into the backseat. The car then sped away.

Gardena police found 12 9mm. bullet casings on the street, a lot of blood and then observed nine bullet holes in a white, older Chevy.

The condition of the victim, who was transported to Memorial Hospital of Gardena by an unidentified citizen, condition was immediately known.

11:20 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10

1100 block of West Rosecrans Avenue

• A man told Gardena police that he was walking down the street when he was approached by three suspects who began asking questions, then attacked him with punches, kicks and bottles.

The tried to avoid trouble by running, but the suspects caught up with him before delivery the barrage of blows.

2:59 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11

1700 block of West Artesia Boulevard

• A woman reported that she was approached by a man wanting money in a grocery store parking lot, and was able to fend him off with a baseball bat.

The victim said the suspect first asked for money, then became physical and demanded money.  As she was pulling a baseball bat from her backseat, the suspect grabbed her and pushed her to the ground.

The woman was able to swing the bat and strike the suspect in the genitals. He then fled the scene on foot.

11:42 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10

16700 block of South Vermont Avenue

• A convenience store worker was approached by two suspects, one armed with a handgun, who demanded money from the register.

The suspect took cash and then drove away. No injuries occurred.

9:34 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10

12800 block of South Crenshaw Boulevard

• A gas station was robbed of cash, cigars, cigarettes and wine by two suspects.

One man was armed with a black revolver. The suspects grabbed the smokes and wine on the way out. No injuries were reported in the robbery.

6:10 to 6:15 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7

South Western Avenue and West 147th Street

• The victim of an attack told police that he was approached by a suspect who first asked for a dollar. When the victim said “no,” the suspect kept asking questions.

Then the suspect noticed the victim’s Movado watch and punched him in the face. A scuffled ensued.

When the suspect ran off, the victim noticed his watch was missing. He suffered a bloodied nose called his wife from a friend’s house.

While cleaning up the blood on his face, the victim’s wife observed a stab wound to his lower chest. They immediately went to the emergency room for treatment.

The victim was treated for a superficial wound.

• Reported stolen were keys and an employee badge. There was extensive window damage.

13800 block of South Normandie Avenue

• The victim left her Motel door unlocked for the maids and left for an hour. When she returned home, she noticed her cell phone and bank cards were missing.

14500 block of South Crenshaw Boulevard

• Two bikes were reported stolen from a work place. The suspect(s) was said to have forced his way into a storage area and broke the locks to steal the bikes.

• Interior of the vehicle was burned. Stolen before the suspected arson were stereo and video equipment.

• Reported stolen were a Bebe purse containing miscellaneous valuables. Entry was through the back door, and a tool might have been used on the lock.

• A bottle of Tylenol No. 3 was stolen. A window was smashed, security bar cut and there was damaged to a rear security door dead bolt.

• The driver-side window was smashed, and reported stolen were sunglasses, a bank card and driver’s license.

8:02 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12

15100 block of South Crenshaw Boulevard

• A purse was reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle. The purse contained airline tickets and extensive cash.

1600 block of West 172nd Street

• Front and rear windows were found smashed. Once inside the vehicle, there was evidence of tampering with the steering column.

• A FedEx pack was reported stolen from a porch. The box contained hair weaves.

8:45 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8

15800 block of South Crenshaw Boulevard

• After setting down her cell phone on the counter of a fast food eatery, a male suspect snatch the item and fled.

A worker asked who the phone belonged to, and the suspect stepped forward to claim the device. When the victim realized it was her phone, she approached the suspect.

He left the restaurant and fled the area.
