The Gardena Police Department will conduct strict enforcement of fireworks laws this July 4 season, in an attempt to educate the public of the dangers of using illegal fireworks.

“Our goal is to prevent injuries caused by the possession and/or mishandling of fireworks, both legal (Safe and Sane) and illegal,” police said.

There are many restrictions regarding the use of Safe and Sane fireworks, which can be found on the City of Gardena website (http://www.codepublishing.com/CA/Gardena) and by looking under section 8.16.020 of the Gardena Municipal Code.

Illegal fireworks (not Safe and Sane) are not to be used at anytime. Notify the police if you see illegal fireworks being used.

Safe and Sane fireworks may be possessed from June 28 beginning at noon, until July 4 at 10 p.m. Per statute, Safe and Sane fireworks may only be discharged from 12 noon to 10 p.m. on July 4.
