The Friends of Gardena Willows Wetland Preserve seeks volunteer assistance at an all-day work day from 8 am to 4 pm on Saturday, Feb. 20 at the Gardena Willows Wetland Preserve, 1200 W. 170th St., Gardena (Johnson Park). Volunteers can select their time schedule, and work whatever amount of time they can donate (1 hour, 2-3 hours etc.).
The Preserve is currently being invaded by a small beetle (PSHB) that is killing many trees.

“We need many volunteers to help with removing and disposing of every sick tree. Equipment is being donated,” Cheral Sherman of the Friends of the Willows said.
Volunteers should wear long pants, long sleeve tops and closed-toed shoes. Gloves, water and lunch will be provided.
