Gatten Sushi’s President Yukinari Yamamoto and The Gardena Valley Chamber of Commerce Chamber director, Wanda Love, welcomed a host of well-wishers to the impactful ceremonies that were held to welcome this very innovative restaurant to Gardena.
Gardena’s first ‘revolving sushi bar’ or ‘Kaiten Sushi’ in Japanese, was a hive of drum rolls, yells, and a knife that rivals the scissors used at ribbon cuttings. Proclamations, declaring success in this business endeavor, were presented by Sen. Roderick Wright and Assemblymember Steven Bradford’s assistants, Samahndi Cunningham and Amir Johnson, respectively.
The festivities began with the drums welcoming the assembled crowd to the balloon decorated front door. A huge tuna was displayed and a huge sushi knife was shown all around, the renowned chef ceremoniously cut the head off the tuna and displayed the quality of the flesh of the fish, a great omen of a successful start to this new business.
Brightly dressed ‘Awa Odori’ Dancers from the Tokushima Prefecture of Japan added a special ambiance to this festivity. Their 400 year old tradition of celebrating a good time, and good luck, added a classic respect for tradition in the midst of an extremely modern and innovative dining experience. The mission of each restaurant is to provide a handmade culinary delight, with service that provides customers an experience from the heart. The amount of well wishers at this event proved that this mission is an achievement fulfilled.
