Gardena PD are investigating a hit and run that occurred at 11:24 p.m. on Saturday August 24, at the 1600 block of Rosecrans Avenue, killing a woman.
Detectives said that they have determined a driver was traveling eastbound on Rosecrans Avenue, when their car fatally struck the victim. He was declared dead at the scene.
The woman has been identified as 45-year-old Shauntae Nicole Parker, with the Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner releasing her information last Tuesday.
“Based on preliminary investigation, the driver was traveling eastbound on Rosecrans Avenue when their vehicle struck the pedestrian on Rosecrans Avenue,” police said. “The vehicle driver did not remain at the scene and drove away.”
KTLA5 reported that, “Footage of the aftermath obtained by KTLA shows the street cordoned off by officers, with the victim covered by a sheet in the roadway during the investigation. Motorists driving up to the scene were forced to turn around and find alternative routes.”
