Permits approved at Planning and Environmental Quality Commission meeting

At the Planning and Environmental Quality Commission meeting on the evening of Tuesday, December 2, Public Hearing 6A called for, “Environmental assessment #15-25 and conditional use permit #6-25 to allow the operation of a warehouse within an existing 10,388 sf industrial building located in the industrial (m-1) zone at 1219 w. 135th street.”

The agenda elaborates: “A request from Jake Mallot (Ferrari Express Inc) to approve Conditional Use Permit (CUP #6-25) to allow the operation of a warehouse use within an existing 10,388 sf warehouse located in the Industrial (M-1) zone in accordance with Section 18.46.030.C.18 of the Gardena Municipal Code. The project is being considered for a categorical exemption from the provisions of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) pursuant to Section 15301 (Class 1 – Existing Facilities). Staff Recommendation: Conduct the public hearing, receive testimony from the public, adopt Resolution No. PC 17-25, subject to the conditions of approval and direct staff to file a notice of exemption.”

The item passed unanimously, with all four commissioners that were present (Chair Ronald Wright-Scherr, Vice Chair Jules Kanhan, Steve Sherman and Deryl Henderson – Stephen Langley was absent) voting yes.

Item 6B called for, “Conditional Use Permit #5-25 to legalize the operation of a group care facility use at the site of the former Gardena terrace inn motel located in the general commercial (c-3) zone at 15902 S. Western Avenue.”

However, the Conditional Use Permit was withdrawn by the applicant.
