At the City Council meeting on the evening of Tuesday, Oct. 27, Administrative Services Item 13A called for, “Approval of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the City of Gardena and the Gardena Police Managers Association (GPMA) for the period July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2030.”

That item passed unanimously 5-0, with all council members present. Item 15A (Elected & City Manager’s Offices) called for, “Approval of the Agreement with the Consolidated Fire Protection District of Los Angeles County and the City of Gardena; for Continued Fire Protection, Hazardous Materials, and Related Emergency Services to the City; Effective January 1, 2027 until the Agreement is Terminated by Either Party Pursuant to the Contract.

That passed unanimously, as did 15B: “Approve Proposed Changes to the Recognition Process for Gardena Veterans.”

Finally, Transportation Item 19A called for, “Approval of the 2025-2028 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the City of Gardena and The International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation Workers Union, Transportation Division (SMART), and Approval of the Classification and Compensation Schedule, Effective July 5, 2026.”

Staff recommended that the council, “Approve and Adopt the SMART MOU for the period July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2028, and the Classification and Compensation Schedule effective July 5, 2026.”

That too passed unanimously.
