Burglary suspect wounded by police

Gardena police responding to a call of a residential burglary March 3, shot one of two suspects in the 15500 block of Ruthelen Avenue, Gardena police Lt. Steve Prendergast said.

Both men were transported to a nearby hospital, but their identities and conditions were not released as of last week, the Daily Breeze reported.

Updated information on the suspects was pending at press time.

Officers responded to a 12:20 p.m. call of suspicious activity, and confronted two men. One man was shot at the scene. There was no information as to what led to the shooting. Prendergast said that both men were to be booked on suspicion of residential burglary.

Los Angeles Sheriff’s detectives are investigating the incident because it involved a Gardena police officer-involved shooting.
