City apartment fire results in multiple injuries

A fire in a Gardena apartment building on the afternoon of Monday, April 22 resulted in injuries to one firefighter and at least four residents.

The fire took place at the two-story building located at 12900 block of South Vermont Avenue approximately at noon, and it was under control about 40 minutes later.

A statement by the L.A. County Fire Department read, “At 11:55 a.m. #LACoFD units arrived to 2 story apartment  building with smoke showing.  2nd was called at 12:07 p.m. all units in offensive mode. Knockdown has been declared at 12:40 p.m. As of now there was 1 firefighter who sustained burns and 4 civilian patients transported to a local area hospital.”

At the time of writing, no details on what started the fire or the extent of the injuries were available.
