Cooking workshop planned at JCI

Those who want to learn about healthy eating, or to learn a few new recipes for the summer… can come to the Gardena Valley Japanese Cultural Institute (GVJCI) from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday July 19 a Healthy Cooking Workshop. The workshop will be held in the Nisei Veterans Memorial Hall on the GVJCI campus at 1964 W. 162nd St., Gardena. The GVJCI is partnering with Roots Community Supported Agriculture (Roots CSA), and teaching you how to make cucumber “sushi” wraps, Swiss chard wraps, and even give you a Swiss chard stems pickling recipe.

Michelle Yamashiro, GVJCI programs Manager, will be leading the workshop with her mother, Lidia Asato, a registered nurse at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. Registration is not complete until payment has been received. There is space for 35 people.
