COVID numbers in city are cause for optimism

At the City Council meeting on Tuesday, May 10, City Manager Clint Osorio delivered the latest COVID-19 numbers. The case count is, as of that meeting, at 16,517, which is an increase of 196 since the last meeting. There have now been a total of 267 deaths, with no new deaths since the last meeting two weeks prior. The number of children of age 5-11 that are vaccinated is 32.6 percent, while the number of people older than 12 that are vaccinated is at 88.5 percent. Youth aged 12 to 17 are at 81.1 percent, and seniors (65+) are at 95+ percent. Since Aug. 23, 2021, 6,388 residents have been tested at Rowley Park. That’s an increase of 89 tests since the last meeting. This data is, of course, fluid and we’ll provide regular updates.
