Serra High forward Tavrion Dawson led Serra High's boys' basketball team with 14 points, including 11 in the fourth quarter, to lead the Cavaliers to a 65-49 win over Mater Dei Catholic from Chula Vista last Saturday at El Camino College. Dawson is averaging around 16 points a game. The Cavaliers moved on to Tuesday's semifinal against West Hollywood Pacific Hills at L.A. Southwest College. If Serra wins, it will take on either Del Rey League rival Bishop Montgomery or Carlsbad Army-Navy Academy at Colony High in Ontario for the championship and a spot in the California State Championship in Sacramento on March 22 or 23.
