Siera Thompson had 24 points and seven rebounds to lead Gardena Serra High's girls' basketball team to its first Southern California Division IV championship with a 63-54 victory over Del Rey League rival St. Bernard last Saturday at Colony High in Ontario. Thompson is a returning two-time all-CIF Southern Section guard who will be playing at University of Michigan next season. The Cavaliers are seeking their first California state championship as they take on Northern California champion Salesian High of Richmond March 23 at the Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento.
