GVJCI set to reopen onsite activities

As LA County is relaxing its pandemic restrictions, the Gardena Valley Japanese Cultural Institute is following suit by reopening its facility to onsite activities starting Monday, Feb. 28. The announcement of the reopening came in an email directed to subscribers of the GVJCI website on Feb. 18. “With the continued decrease in COVID-19 cases in LA County, we have decided to lift our temporary suspension of onsite activities,” according to the email. Both participants and visitor are required to observe the JCI health and safety guidelines, as indicated in the email. “Some March programs are being rescheduled, so check our website for the latest updates,” the email blast continued to report. The JCI’s online programs will continue as scheduled, officials said. Day of Remembrance The 2022 Gardena Valley JCI Day of Remembrance will have a theme of “Camp Creativity: Resilience Through Art” now through Saturday, Feb. 22-26. The free weeklong virtual event will be posted on the GVJCI website: www.jci-gardena. org. Today’s program is a Japanese Cultural and Performing Arts event. Friday’s virtual showing is a a Fine Art in the Camps and Haiku event. Saturday will feature a live virtual program from 2 to 4 p.m., featuring keynote speaker Delphine Hirasuna.
