The victim drove the suspect, who reportedly spoke with an African accent, to Church’s Chicken to meet his attorney.

While waiting in the victim’s car for the attorney, a third man (suspect two) struck up a conversation with the victim. Suspect two identified himself as a manager for  Church’s Chicken.

Suspect two agreed to also help. The first suspect shared letters, one of which involved a settlement of his brother’s death during 9-11. Another letter from a church in Africa stated that the settlement money from 9-11 couldn’t be used because the country (unknown) was in turmoil.

After further exchanges of why the settlement money could not be dealt with in the conventional way, the victim was told that if he could help distribute $80,000, he would receive $20,000 for his troubles.

In a gesture of good faith, the victim had to withdraw money from his bank. In the end, the victim watched the two suspects walk away as he waited for them.

Once he lost sight of the suspects, the victim realized he had been scammed.
