A man is in custody, wanted in connection with a shooting, after leading police officers on an hour-long chase that journeyed through Hawthorne, Inglewood and Gardena on Wednesday, February 18, beginning at about 3:15 p.m.
NBC reported that, “While trying to evade law enforcement, the driver at times traveled on the wrong side of the road, cut off other drivers and cut through a shopping plaza’s parking lot while circling the same areas. A trail of police cruisers chased after the driver, who refused to yield as he maneuvered through busy surface streets.”
According to a KTLA report, “During the pursuit, the male suspect drove at a reasonable speed of about 40mph on surface streets but was oftentimes on the wrong side of the road. Other drivers managed to avoid the suspect’s vehicle as it made many risky left turns and blew through red lights at intersections. No injuries have been reported.”
It was after an hour that the suspect drove into a narrow alley, close to the intersection of Rosecrans and Ardath Avenues in Hawthorne. At about 4:30 p.m., the vehicle stopped, and the driver “surrendered to officers without incident.”
According to the authorities, the driver was wanted in connection with a shooting that occured in November. No further details were released at the time of going to press, and the charges that the driver is facing are unclear.
