City addresses street painters

By Brett Callwood

The City of Gardena has released a statement to say that it has received “a growing number of complaints regarding curbside street address painters.”

The statement goes on to say that the City hasn’t authorized any company or organization to paint addresses on curbs, as the complaints state.

“This type of work would, at a minimum, require both a permit and a business license authorized by the City,” it reads. “As a reminder, anyone representing a legitimate business that solicits door-to-door is required to have a valid business license issued by the City of Gardena (GMC 5.04.010-5.4.340).”

The City requests that, if somebody comes to your door offering to paint your curb without the required city permits, they should be reported to Code Enforcement.

“Code Enforcement can be reached by calling (310) 217-6171, Monday through Thursday, between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. and Friday between 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Closed on holidays. Outside of these hours, solicitors should be reported by calling the Gardena Police Department non-emergency dispatch center at (310) 323-7911. Threatening solicitors should be reported by calling 911.”
