North Torrance High’s football team picked up its first win of the season with a 20-6 home victory over St. Genevieve High from Panorama City last Friday.

Fourth year starting quar- terback Trevor Lagarde continued to shine as he passed for all three Saxon touchdowns to wide receiver-running back Dylan Williams. One of those TD’s went for 61 yards.

Lagarde completed 20 of 35 passes for 220 yards. Williams caught eight of those passes for 157 yards and three touchdowns. He rushed for 19 yards, totaling 176 all-purpose yards.

North totaled 274 offensive yards to just 122 for the Valiants. St. Genevieve was led by quarterback Benjamin Macias who completed nine of 17 passes for 67 yards including a 15-yard TD to wide receiver Noah Samayo.

Both teams struggled with their running game as they combined for just 89 yards on the ground; 54 for the Saxons and 35 for the Valiants.

North (1-1) remains home to take on Carson today at 7 p.m. The Colts, who have a long history of success, have been down this season at 0-2 after a 32-14 loss to host Franklin last Friday in the Highland Park District of Los Angeles. A week earlier, Carson fell to East L.A. Roosevelt 36-14 at L.A. Harbor College. The Colts lost their home field due to poor conditions on their current field and have to play their home games at Harbor College in Wilmington.
