Anthony Dixon, of Los Angeles County Fire Department, is the 2022 winner of the inaugural city of Gardena “Salsa Showdown.” The event took place at the April 30 Cinco de Mayo Festival. Dixon’s homemade salsa beat out several challengers in both the amateur and professional categories.

Salsa winner Anthony Dixon received a gift card, a trophy and media
coverage. Dixon also competed in the 2021 chili cookoff. Criteria for
competitors was to woo the judges and the public with salsa aroma,
consistency and flavor. This year’s official judges were Patricia Worthy, Tish
McCauley and Freddie Flores.
