Gardena High versatile back Michael Thompson runs past defenders for a big gain in last Friday's football season opener against Verbum Dei. Thompson scored both of the Panthers' touchdowns on a 40-yard interception return and a 90-yard punt return in their 36-12 loss to the Eagles. Thompson was an all-Marine Leaguer last season.
